Why Use Sea Sponges
Why use a natural sea sponge?
A natural sea sponge is about as simple as a bathroom product gets: one ingredient, grown in the sea, with no plastic anywhere. Here's why people make the switch.
No plastic. Most shower loofahs are made from plastic mesh. A sea sponge is completely natural, with nothing synthetic to unravel or throw away.
Soft and gentle. Grass sponges are soft and springy, gentle enough for your face and hands, yet firm enough for a proper wash.
Naturally exfoliating. The springy, open texture gently buffs away dry skin as you wash, leaving it feeling smooth and fresh, without the scratch of a plastic loofah.
Lathers with less. Thousands of tiny channels hold water and soap, so a small amount of shower gel goes a long way.
Lasts for months. Rinse it, squeeze it out and let it dry between uses, and a sea sponge lasts 6 to 12 months.
Ends well. When it's worn out, cut it into pieces and add it to your compost.
One of a kind. No two sponges are the same shape, colour or texture. Yours will be the only one like it.

Is a sea sponge an animal?
Yes. Sponges are among the simplest animals on Earth, with no brain, nerves or organs. The sponge you receive is its soft, cleaned skeleton. More in our FAQ →
