About Us

A family business, rooted on Long Island

Hello! We're Jo, Millie and George: a family with deep connections to the Bahamas, bringing hand-harvested natural sea sponges to bathrooms across the UK.

Jo's sister, Debbie, has been in the Bahamas for 40 years and our family has been fortunate enough to spend time in the islands ever since. We started visiting Long Island 20 years ago when Debbie moved there with her husband, and we fell in love with it. Being one of the Out Islands, Long Island is much less developed than Nassau, and fishing and sponging are still key ways of life here.

After meeting some local spongers and trying natural sea sponges for ourselves, we never went back to plastic loofahs again. The feeling of exfoliation you get from Bahamian sea sponges is unbeatable, so we knew we had to share it with people back in the UK.

George is currently on Long Island, where our sponges come from, while back in Kent, Jo and Millie check, measure and grade every sponge by hand, before packing and posting it to you.

Why Long Island?

Obviously, we love Long Island itself, but when we were looking into selling natural sea sponges, we quickly realised that most sea sponges sold in the UK come from the Mediterranean, with very little said about where they grew or who harvested them. We'd rather tell you exactly where yours came from. Meet Long Island →

What we promise

  • One origin. Every sponge comes from the crystal-clear waters around Long Island, Bahamas.
  • Honest sizes. Measured dry, across the widest point, and always within the size range shown.
  • Real photos. Our own pictures, balanced for natural daylight but never edited to change the sponge.
  • Small batches. When a size sells out, it's gone until the next harvest.

Thanks for supporting a small family business.
